Move-In Preparation Tips

At Cadence Living, we help take away the stress by working with you every step of the way. Before moving into a retirement community, everyone involved needs to know what to expect. Here are a few tips to help you and your family prepare for the transition. 

Pack smart

Downsizing is difficult, but it’s easier when you’re organized. Start small and tackle a little bit each day at a pace you’re comfortable with. Your “needs” should be the priority, but “wants,” like photos and a few other small keepsakes, are also very important and meaningful.

Ask for help

Making the big move isn’t something you should have to do alone. If your children live nearby, ask them to gather anything they may want to keep from your home and help you sort your belongings. Encourage close friends and family members to stop by to assist you with packing and prioritizing.

Stay positive

Leaving behind your home can be an emotional experience. However, you’re also leaving behind maintenance, cooking, cleaning and other chores for a new adventure and a more upbeat lifestyle.
